Aryanna Prasad Bhullar
Daily Skimm Writer

Aryanna Prasad Bhullar thinks a lot about what millennial women want to read because, well, she is one. It’s something she’s thought about for years: First as the sports business writer for The GIST, and now as a Daily Skimm writer.

She spends her days scouring the web for news, guided by an intuition that sharpens each day: What does a Skimm’r actually want to read? It’s a unique blend of what’s happening in the White House, what’s happening to our bodies as we age, and what’s happening… in our grocery carts. (Who knew raspberries were a good source of fiber?)

She’s been at the writing game for the past seven years, though much of that has been spent in “sports land.” She began covering the Seattle Seahawks on a Sports Illustrated team website. As a freelancer, she worked for several organizations, including the International Paralympic Committee and NBC Sports, where she spent three weeks in Connecticut covering Tokyo 2020.

She then went on to work as an editor at FanSided — her favorite part of the job was interviewing athletes like A’ja Wilson, Rose Lavelle, and Julian Edelman. For three years, she headed The GIST’s sports business newsletter, which gave an inside look into the business side of women’s sports.

Honestly, it’s all a bit unexpected from someone who went to LSU but wasn’t a “sports person.” Aryanna majored in political communications and international studies, and her goal was to become a foreign correspondent. Now, she gets to explore that beat a bit at The Skimm, focusing on the pressing political matters of our time. Often, those stories speak to her the most.

That includes keeping an eye on immigration and environmental policy, as well as following the money when it comes to major political shifts. But she’s also drawn to conversations around today’s zeitgeist, whether it’s about why millennials rent everything (houses, clothes, iPhones) or how social media rewires our ability to connect.

Aryanna works with an incredible team of talented (and super nice) journalists on the Daily Skimm team — you can spot their names at the bottom of every newsletter. It’s a joy to collaborate as they brainstorm, write, and edit the newsletter together.

(Fun fact: Before she worked at theSkimm, she spent a summer in NYC working alongside Kamini Ramdeen-Chowdhury in 2015. Years later, she met Molly Longman during a trip to Nike HQ in 2024. Small world indeed.)

When she’s not writing, Aryanna enjoys spending quality time with her husband and his big, Punjabi family in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. When she says “quality time”, she means: Hearing old stories about Punjab, learning about the Punjabi language and Sikhism, and being the best auntie she can be to her seven nieces. (So yes, she knows about iPad rage.)

You can find her work interwoven into the Daily Skimm, and soon, on Substack.
