Little Fires Everywhere: How It Went From Book to Screen

March 22, 2020

The Story

Your favorite book from 2017 just got turned into your new favorite TV show.

And that would be?

Celeste Ng’s “Little Fires Everywhere.” You've seen the cover in your local bookstore or on a beach somewhere. Or maybe you recognize the title from the NYT bestseller list. The family drama follows a mysterious artist and her daughter after they show up in a sleepy Cleveland town. Surprise surprise: they bring a lot of baggage and suspense with them.

Deets on the TV adaptation plz.

Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington are starring. Joshua Jackson is there too. It’s all going down in an 8-episode mini series. And the first few episodes are available to stream on Hulu. Like right now.

And you’re telling me this why?

Because we were there. Inside the room where it happens. Back in January 2019, we went behind the scenes during the making of the show. As the only cameras in the writers' room, we got a BTS look at how a bestselling book makes it onto your screen.
