Trust us on this one. An underwire top is a staple, especially if you’ll be snorkeling, swimming, or participating in any kind of water sport. We’ve done all three in this top, all while feeling fully supported. The underwire is surprisingly comfortable and the adjustable straps ensure the perfect fit. ($96, Monday Swimwear)
A classic bandeau top that’s great for tanning…
This one has a bigger price tag, we agree. But we can vouch for Mara Hoffman suits. They hold up wash after wash. Plus this style is timeless. A bandeau top won’t give you any strap tan lines (just always remember to wear sunscreen please), and you can pair it with pretty much any style bottom. ($140, Amazon)
A sporty top you’ll feel amazing in…
Like wearing a sports bra to the beach, you’ll be able to swim, play beach volleyball, or even just enjoy a happy hour, all while feeling supported and secure. It’s seriously one of the most comfortable tops we’ve ever worn, and we love that it comes in 12 different colors (including a standout red). FYI, we sized up for a better fit. ($88, Free People)
A top with a pretty scalloped edge…
Marysia has been around for a long time, and for good reason. The brand is still serving up bathing suits with supportive tops and their signature scalloping. Grab the bottoms while you’re at it to make it a matching set. ($150, Amazon)
A smocked swim set that stretches to fit you…
You might be wondering about the sizing guide for this swimsuit. Don’t be alarmed, but it comes in just one size. While you may be raising your eyebrows, we’ve actually worn it and can report that it really is incredibly stretchy, moving with you as you bend, twist, and find new positions to tan in. A one-piece with a high-cut leg…
If you’re looking for something with “Baywatch” vibes, go for this retro one-piece with high-cut legs, cheeky coverage, and a low back. This one has full bust and bottom coverage, but a revealing open back. We’re sold. The stretchy, recycled fabric will be compressive for long days spent under the sun, but don’t worry about comfort. We’ve worn this and find it easy to stay in, even on longer beach days. It comes in both solid and striped options, and sizes 0–24. Customers say it’s good for those with larger chests too.
