August 28, 2019

It’s August 28th. Today, we Skimm’d This:

  • Queen Elizabeth II agreed to Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s request to suspend Parliament. But critics are accusing him of playing Brexit games

  • Hurricane Dorian was upgraded to a hurricane today, and it’s threatening Puerto Rico. The island is still recovering from Hurricane Maria, which caused massive damage almost two years ago.

  • Billionaire Tom Steyer appears to have missed out on making the Democrats’ third presidential debate. It means the party can likely keep it a one-night-only affair.

  • Climate activist Greta Thunberg is scheduled to speak at the UN – but she didn’t want to fly due to carbon emissions. So instead: she sailed. It took 15 days. And today: New York City welcomed her.
