Jennifer Garner Talks Organic Baby Food with theSkimm

September 9, 2019

The Story

Jennifer Garner is going organic.

How so?

Well, she’s one of the co-founders of Once Upon a Farm, which is a company that makes baby food. But Once Upon a Farm has upped the game by making baby food that is cold pressed and organic. Her next step is bringing it to WIC families.

I know what that is, but forgot.

WIC stands for women, infants and children. It’s federally funded and state approved money that is directed to pregnant women, nursing mothers, non-breastfeeding postpartum women, and children up to 5 years old. Right now, Jennifer said the baby food available through WIC aren’t the most appetizing products you could find in the grocery store. She’s trying to change that with the baby food from Once Upon a Farm to get something a little more tasty in there.

That’s commitment. How’s that going?

Right now Once Upon a Farm is providing their food to WIC families three states. It’s a state-by-state process, but Jennifer said they are going to knock them all down.

Jennifer believes that food is love. And if we are going to feed a dog organic food, why not feed humans that as well. She’s chipping away at states to get her baby food into the hands of pregnant and nursing mothers, and children to up the quality of the food that they can currently get through WIC. Don’t believe it’s tasty? Jennifer sipped some for herself. Want more interviews with other inspiring women? Check out our chat with Melinda Gates.
