WIC stands for women, infants and children. It’s federally funded and state approved money that is directed to pregnant women, nursing mothers, non-breastfeeding postpartum women, and children up to 5 years old. Right now, Jennifer said the baby food available through WIC aren’t the most appetizing products you could find in the grocery store. She’s trying to change that with the baby food from Once Upon a Farm to get something a little more tasty in there.
Right now Once Upon a Farm is providing their food to WIC families three states. It’s a state-by-state process, but Jennifer said they are going to knock them all down.
Jennifer believes that food is love. And if we are going to feed a dog organic food, why not feed humans that as well. She’s chipping away at states to get her baby food into the hands of pregnant and nursing mothers, and children to up the quality of the food that they can currently get through WIC. Don’t believe it’s tasty? Jennifer sipped some for herself. Want more interviews with other inspiring women? Check out our chat with Melinda Gates.
