No one knows tidying better than Marie Kondo. Her bestselling book “The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up” introduced her unique perspective on tidying and her TV show “Tidying Up with Marie Kondo” took the world (and your Insta feed) by storm.
But Marie’s expertise spans beyond the home. She helped us tidy a messy desk and showed us that a workspace can “spark joy” too.
Her tips for tiding are simple and easily translate from couch to counter.
Step 1: Categorize items. Books, pens, and last week's lunch should all be separated.
Step 2: Examine each item. Marie recommends holding each item to determine if it “sparks joy.” If an item is no longer needed it’s okay to say "thank u, next."
Step 3: Find everything a home. Yes, even that stack of papers and rouge stapler.
Marie recommends tidying the entire space at once. So put up that OOO and take an extra long lunch break.
Joy, sparked.
