Who: Caster Semenya

What: The two-time Olympic track and field champion from South Africa

Why: Last year, track and field's world governing body was planning to add a new rule that female runners with high testosterone have to drop those levels (think: using hormonal contraceptives) for six months before they can run. And have to keep that level. Or else be banned from running in international races between 400 meters and one mile. Semenya – who could be affected by the new rule – said "I am a woman and I am fast" and that this is discriminatory. So, she’s taking the issue to court and the rule is delayed until it plays out.
