EDITOR'S NOTE

I hate packing. As a “mood dresser” with three weeks of travel coming up, figuring out what to wear for three different climates has been unbearable. That said, I do love gathering the smaller essentials to make travel days and new environments feel more like home. Here are some currently sitting in my bag:

• This Bluetooth-powered dongle so I can use my own headphones with the plane’s entertainment system.

• Some soft, flexible earplugs for sleep.

• A set of three brightly colored packing cubes to separate my clothes.

If you never get around to cleaning your makeup brushes but know you need to (👋), check out this $17 tool from Amazon. It’s a collapsible mini bucket that has a scrubber base with four different textures. Just add a couple pumps of cleanser and warm water and scrub. Then, flip the bowl over and use the base as a drying rack for your brushes. If you’re prone to breakouts, try this.
