EDITOR'S NOTE
I’ve been known to delete Instagram from my phone for weeks on end, only to reinstall it to respond to DMs from my loved ones. It’s a nice respite for me to get out into the world, so l love this new trend of “grandma hobbies” as a way to decrease doomscrolling. One of these “grandma hobbies” includes creating an “analog bag,” a catchall to hold books, crafts, and other at-home hobbies that don’t involve your phone. Here’s everything I’m planning to put into mine:
My go-to durable tote that’s sturdy without being stiff.
A “some lines a day” journal as a low-pressure way to jot down quick thoughts.
These basic mini coloring books for adults that aren’t overly complicated.
This classic fidget toy and puzzle in one.
A beginner-friendly watercolor workbook with pre-drawn guidelines.

Remedy Skin Hand Cream
Our editor just found a dupe for that $62 retinol hand cream.
Margo here. Our team of editors has spoken ad nauseam about how much they love that cult-favorite retinol hand cream that’s going viral right now, but are pained by the $62 price. I recently discovered yet another derm-developed brand, Remedy Skin, that has a dupe at a fraction of the cost. It’s packed with encapsulated retinol (a less intense version of retinol), shea butter, and ceramides, so you can get the anti-aging effects without spending more than $20.
Three Totally Random Things
Here are three random products we’re loving this week:
Quince Silk Drawstring Wide-Leg Pants
They feel like pajamas, but look like cool trousers. PS: They’re washable.
Recess Mood
A magnesium-infused sparkling water Skimm’rs are buying in bulk.
Anagram Mane Stage All-in-One Hair & Brow Sculpt
Control brows, flyaways, and edges with this.
Take Note
We’re equally picky and short on time when it comes to makeup. Merit’s The Minimalist Complexion Stick is a product we’re bringing into the new year because it’s somewhere between a foundation and concealer stick with buildable, noncakey coverage. Apply your go-to serum and moisturizer, then apply The Minimalist where you need it and blend. Pick from 30 shades. Its compact packaging makes it easy to take on the go, too.
