EDITOR'S NOTE

Last week our Senior Editor asked the question, “While these salt and pepper shakers are majorly discounted, are they still too expensive?” The reactions on our team were mixed (we love them, but the price…yikes), however it did make us think about the delusional purchases we’ve made because a friend enabled us at the exact right moment. We giggled about these types of real-life purchases below:

  • “Thanks to the convincing of my work wife, I did spend nearly $50 on this very fancy bundle of dryer sheets and laundry detergent.” —Margo Ghertner, Commerce Editor

  • I saw this at my set designer friend’s home and needed it immediately. Pricey? Yes. Adorable? Also yes.” —Caroline Goldstein, Senior Commerce Editor

  • “Pesto is my favorite sauce and all of my friends know it. When I sent this hat in the group chat, everyone immediately hyped me up so of course I bought it.” —Ali Napoli, Commerce Director

  • “My best friend and I love to twin, so after I got her this anklet for her birthday and saw how good it looked, she encouraged me to order one for myself.” —Martha Upton, Senior Commerce Writer

It’s no secret that Gap is doing the most right now. Skimm’rs and our editors alike can’t stop shopping the nostalgic brand because its Zac Posen-fueled revamp is making even the most basic tee feel on-trend. Thursday is the last day to shop Gap’s Friends & Family Sale, where you can get 40% off almost everything. Some standout pieces: these linen-blend pants, this bestselling waffle tee, and this denim midi dress.

Looking for your next read?

Forget sifting through reviews, relying on your algorithm, or remembering the name of that one book your friend recommended at brunch. Enter: Off the Page, our new book club. We do the research for you. All you have to do is read it and show up.

Our first pick: Little One by Olivia Muenter. It’s got cults, sisterhood, coming-of-age — and it poses an interesting question — how much of your past do you really get to erase?

There’s still time to read with us before we meet on March 26. The author will be there too. We’ll ask her your questions live, then, we’ll break into discussion groups. You get to meet new people, create connections, and become part of a community.
