July 21, 2021 (New York, NY) – theSkimm today launched “9 to 5ish with theSkimm,” a weekly career podcast for millennial women, hosted by theSkimm’s co-founders and co-CEOs Carly Zakin and Danielle Weisberg. Each 30-minute episode features women leaders in conversation about the defining moments in their careers  — wins, losses, triumphs and mistakes — and the lessons they’ve picked up along the way. The first three episodes of “9 to 5ish with theSkimm” will be sponsored by Saks OFF 5th. The inaugural episode will feature Bumble CEO Whitney Wolfe Herd, and future guests will include Paris Hilton, Gayle King, journalist Rashida Jones, Esther Perel and more.

“9 to 5ish with theSkimm” launches as a generation of women are returning to the workforce, facing new career challenges, starting families and taking on greater responsibilities. With the pandemic disproportionately impacting the work lives of millennial women, theSkimm evolved the format of a previous podcast, “Skimm'd From the Couch,” to  equip listeners with the resources they need to navigate their careers. Through informative, engaging and actionable conversations, “9 to 5ish” will serve as a toolkit to empower women to get what they want out of their careers at a time when the lines between work and personal life have become increasingly blurred.

“We want to help change the narrative of work for women and empower them to take control of their careers,” said theSkimm’s co-founders and co-CEOs Carly Zakin and Danielle Weisberg. “As offices are re-opening, it's important to have these conversations about work, life, and the gray areas in between—hence, ‘9 to 5ish.’ We’re tapping into the stories and shared experiences of the women we admire most to give our audience fresh perspective and the guidance they need to shape their careers and, in turn, live smarter.”

"Our goal at Saks OFF 5TH is to empower our customers through fashion and self-expression, allowing them to show up with confidence for important moments by providing the most coveted brands at the best prices. Given this focus, we are thrilled to partner with theSkimm on the launch of "9-to-5 ish" and support the next wave of female leaders as they listen in to these candid conversations,” says Sara Griffin, SVP of Marketing at Saks OFF 5TH .

In the premiere episode of “9 to 5ish with theSkimm, Whitney Wolfe Herd, founder and CEO of Bumble and the youngest self-made woman billionaire, speaks with co-hosts Carly and Danielle about entrepreneurship, scaling a business and building confidence. “We all have traumas and we all have struggles and we all have challenges. Building Bumble and finding a way to build this product that had intention, purpose, passion -- that rebuilt me,” Whitney explained.

Each episode offers actionable advice on topics like navigating pay disparity, fighting imposter syndrome or taking maternity leave. Listeners are invited to participate in these conversations by submitting questions for guests via Instagram. “9 to 5ish” is available on Spotify, Apple, and wherever podcasts are available. New episodes will be released weekly, each Wednesday.
