We’re in peak sunscreen season (although every season is sunscreen season) — so we’re sharing the tinted ones, the sensitive skin-friendly ones, and the K-beauty ones we actually look forward to applying and reapplying. These formulas stand apart from the rest.

A glowy sunscreen that’s going viral…
“I’d been seeing the Australian-based SPF brand, Ultra Violette, pretty much everywhere on my social feeds, and I knew I had to give it a try. Its Future Screen is a mineral-based sunscreen with SPF 50. Its packaging touts that it’s a “super lightweight fluid with a natural skin-perfected finish,” and after months of testing, I can attest it lives up to that promise. It evens out any redness or discoloration, while providing natural luminosity that isn’t glittery. I’ve been telling everyone in my life to buy this — especially for everyday no makeup-makeup.” —Margo Ghertner ($40, Sephora)

Our new favorite tinted SPF…
When I heard Merit was releasing a tinted sunscreen, my interest peaked — I love all of its clean beauty products, including Flush Balm and Shade Slick. Like I said before, my sensitive skin and sunscreen never play nice, so I tend to opt for tinted moisturizers with sunscreen in them. This one applies like an absolute dream, thanks to ingredients like propanediol and glycerin. It’s lightweight, not cakey at all, and evens out the redness in my skin without completely covering it. Plus, it has mineral SPF 45, a high level of protection that’s typically hard to find in tinted moisturizers. Read our full review here. —Martha Upton ($38, Merit)

A barely-there sunscreen we look forward to reapplying…
“This Mineral Unseen Sunscreen from Supergoop is my all-time favorite. It has a gel-like texture that goes on velvety smooth and feels like nothing after a few seconds. No grease, no shine, no white streaks. I also love that it has 45 SPF and is both water- and sweat-resistent. This one is a must.” —Alessandra Rey ($40, Supergoop!)

A tinted option you can wear without makeup…
“I will never stop talking about RMS’ SuperNatural Radiance Sunscreen. It’s like an SPF, serum, and tinted moisturizer in one. It leaves my skin looking radiant and has a hint of color-correction, so I actually end up wearing less concealer with this, too. And it feels light and hydrating on my sensitive-ish skin. Can’t step foot out of the house without this on.” —Caroline Goldstein ($40, Amazon)

The new luxury sunscreen that’s worth the price…
“This Marie Veronique sunscreen is the first true luxury SPF I’ve used, and I have to say, you get what you pay for. It’s by far the most elegant formula I’ve tried. It has a similar texture to one of my favorite moisturizers (Sofie Pavitt Omega Rich Moisturizer), and I think it works to actively reduce redness and leave my skin with a dewy finish — without any pigment. A little goes a very long way, so I can’t imagine needing to repurchase this within the next year (or even two).” —Caroline Goldstein ($65, Marie Veronique)

A sensitive skin-friendly sunscreen…
“My skin hates sunscreen. And I mean ‘hate, hate, hate, double hate, loathe entirely’ (bonus points if you know this quote). So I’ve tried my fair share to no avail. But I started using this one from Summer Fridays recently, and it’s the only sunscreen my sensitive, redness-prone skin doesn’t have an absolute meltdown from after wearing it for a full day. It feels light and airy on my skin, and I can apply makeup over it — though you do have to rub it in quickly or it’ll pill. I’m normally a tinted moisturizer person, but when I’m at the beach or going to be in the sun all day, this is my go-to. —Martha Upton ($36, Sephora)

A matte sunscreen with no white cast…
“Let’s be real. White cast is still a thing, and it’s one of the biggest sunscreen struggles for people of color. But SPF is nonnegotiable, so finding one that protects and doesn’t leave me looking ghostly is always on my radar. Right now, I’m loving the La Roche-Posay Ultra Light Fluid. It's super lightweight, has a matte finish, and layers perfectly under makeup. Sometimes, I even use it as a primer. And I’ve got to shout out the OG that got me back into wearing sunscreen in the first place — Black Girl Sunscreen. It’s always in my bathroom lineup and never lets me down.”—Sarai Thompson ($32.99, Amazon)

The K-beauty one that soothes skin…
“I have an arsenal of sunscreen, and one of my favorites is NEOGEN Lab's Day-Light Protection Airy SPF 50. Based on the weather, I like to use different types of sunscreens throughout the year, and this K-beauty one is especially great for the warmer months. It's been sold out forever on my go-to K-beauty site, SokoGlam, so I was surprised to see that it is now available at Urban Outfitters. It’s lightweight, airy, and leaves you with a cool satin finish — no white cast either. You also don't get that tacky or greasy sunscreen feel. Instead, it feels like a light hydrating moisturizer. Another bonus: Its ingredients (like aloe, avocado, and more) calm irritation and redness, while keeping oil at bay. ” —Vivien Lee ($32, Urban Outfitters)
