How I Tested...

Prior to move-in, I ordered the drain protector and the spray mop to keep our floors clean, along with a toothbrush organizer and shower caddy to keep our personal items out of each other’s way (but still within reach). I took notes on my thoughts every day for the subsequent two weeks.

Test Results...

  • Hair Catch Drain Protector. Right away, I knew this hair catcher would be different, thanks to its unique two-part design. Unlike most protectors (that are basically just small strainers), this one has an inverted, bundt-like shape that can be inserted into nearly any drain and an even smaller mushroom-like topper that actually catches the hair. To empty it, I simply slid out the top part and let the hair fall directly into the trash. There are holes throughout, so there wasn’t any water stoppage or build-up. I only had to empty it once every four days — which is nothing short of a miracle. ($13.99

  • Microfiber Spray Mop and Slide-Out Scrubber. I tried this spray mop once and immediately threw my old one away. I grew up on sweepers with removable wet pads, so not having to constantly replace them was a game changer. This mop has a reusable machine-washable microfiber pad that’s great for virtually any type of hard floor. I love that you can fill the bottle with any cleaning solution and the mop glides smoothly (even on my partner’s kitchen floors, which had yet to see a mop of any kind). For tough spots that required more force, I retracted the scrubber from the pad by stepping on the pedal to attack the stain before gliding it back into place. ($39.99

  • Aluminum 3-Tier Shower Caddy. This shower caddy might just be my favorite find. The first thing I noticed is that it’s hefty, both in weight and in size. My partner and I share one bathroom with his roommate, so there are a lot of different products in the shower. This caddy has two spacious rustproof shelves that are ideal for my large shampoo and conditioner bottles and my loofah. It has a smaller shelf at the bottom for a bar of soap and a hook on the side where I hung up my razor. I’m giving it bonus points for its no-slip grip around the top hook and the rubber suction cup at the bottom (which prevents the caddy from moving or sliding). ($51.95)

  • Stainless Steel Toothbrush Organizer. I was looking forward to this toothbrush holder the most because we have three toothbrushes to manage in our household. I love the sleek design and the fact that it can be kept closed for sanitary reasons. While there are four sections for brushes and a larger one in the middle for toothpaste, we could only fit one large electric toothbrush in the middle section (and all three of us use electric toothbrushes). That being said, I would only recommend this product for anyone who uses an analog brush. ($22.99)

Sidenotes...

  • Packaging and delivery. All four products came individually packaged in large boxes. The shower caddy itself is large (about 30 inches long), but I thought its box was the most excessive. Between that and the mop box (which was so large my neighbor thought it was a snowboard), I needed assistance hauling these boxes up the stairs. That aside, delivery was timely, and all products arrived in mint condition.
