Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

Today's the start of the month that honors Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the US. In 1978, Congress established AAPI Heritage Week. It lasted for 10 days and coincided with:

– The anniversary of the first Japanese immigrants to arrive in the US in 1843

– The completion of the transcontinental railroad, which many Chinese workers helped build in 1869.

In the ‘90s, Congress expanded the celebration to cover the month of May. Adding more time to our calendars to recognize the contributions that AAPIs have made to American culture, history, and society. And it’s important to educate ourselves on the history of discrimination the AAPI community has faced for over a century. Learn more here.

Lyft Q1 earnings report

4:30 ET. Tune in here. Lyft picked up a mixed back in Q4. It beat revenue estimates...but fell short on active riders (read: about 2 million below analyst estimates). Some of the decline could be due to the Omicron variant — which the company expects to drive down Q1 results. Investors are hoping they'll steer clear of major losses in today's report.
