Rare Michelangelo drawing heads to auction
A red-chalk drawing by Michelangelo — made as a study for the Sistine Chapel ceiling — is being offered at Christie’s as part of its Old Master drawings sale. The sketch shows the right foot of the Libyan Sibyl. Christie’s says, it’s one of just 10 Michelangelo drawings still in private hands — most were lost centuries ago.
