You worked hard enough this week. Let us plan your weekend…
Imagine a world where single people are only legally allowed to have sex one night per year. No, it’s not another Handmaid’s Tale spin-off. Rather, it’s the plot of One Night Only, the new rom-com from the guy who gave us Easy A and Anyone But You. An aspiring singer (Monica Barbaro) and a pizzeria owner (Callum Turner) first cross paths on the aforementioned Horniest Night of the Year™. As sparks fly between these two unrealistically hot people, an obvious question remains: Will they hook up before it’s too late? One can only hope. Either way, at least we have Turner making pizza from scratch.
Convinced you’ve got nothing to wear this weekend? Don’t panic-shop. Try an “outfit villain.” It’s the delightfully chaotic styling hack that’ll make your whole wardrobe feel fresh — and a little rebellious.
Viral Cowboy Candy (aka candied jalapeños) just got a summery upgrade, and all it takes is one ingredient you’ve probably got sitting on your counter. BRB while we eat it on burgers, pizza, and, let’s be honest, straight off the spoon.
Leave it to Ryan Murphy to combine misbehaving rich kids, an elite prep school, and a deranged murderer into one show. FX’s The Shards — based on Bret Easton Ellis’s semi-autobiographical novel — tells the story of a privileged high school clique (Kaia Gerber, Graham Campbell, Hayes Warner) that includes 17-year-old Bret (Igby Rigney). His world begins to unravel when a new student (Homer Gere) arrives right around the same time a serial killer strikes across the city — which, shocker, Bret doesn’t think is purely coincidence. It’s basically Gossip Girl meets Riverdale with a literary bent, so, naturally, it gets an A+.

If your iPhone grocery lists are a scary place, allow us to deliver some hard news: Your Notes app is not it. Your phone comes with another app that offers an easier, far more organized way to get it done — and honestly, we’re annoyed it took us this long to find out.

Happy (almost) weekend. Blame it on my daughters returning to the classroom (we live in Georgia), but I’m already in back-to-school mode — which always feels more like New Year’s than January does. Think: new goals, new habits, new energy. That said, here are my non-negotiables this weekend:
Trying this new pasta recipe, which includes two of my favorite things: a creamy sauce and crispy chicken. My daughters can be picky, so I’m constantly hunting for a stick-to-your-ribs dinner they’ll actually eat — and won’t take all night to make.
Shopping for wide-leg jeans. Now that I’ve accepted skinny jeans aren’t doing it for me like they used to, I’m heading to American Eagle (millennial me is dying) to try on this highly rated style. The goal: comfy enough to wear all day yet elevated enough for preschool pickup.
Catching up on this Netflix sports docuseries. Football season is nearly here, and knowing the quarterbacks’ stories makes watching NFL RedZone with my husband even better. Hear Jayden Daniels talk about his childhood manifestations, then tell me you’re not rooting for him too.
Reading a book I remember from my own ’90s classrooms and a classic that made me forever terrified of falling asleep with gum in my mouth. There’s nothing like sharing my childhood faves with my girls — and the lessons couldn’t be more on theme. Like Alexander’s realization that sometimes days are just bad, which is a reminder I still need.
Following my Runna 5K plan. After a lifetime of convincing myself I was not a runner, I did my first 5K last year. I’ve kept up with this newish hobby ever since — and I run best with a coach in my ear telling me exactly how to beat last year’s time.
