Sasha Pieterse wants you to be informed about PCOS.
Polycystic ovary syndrome. It’s a hormonal disorder that affects 1 in 10 women, including Sasha. We sat down with her at the Freeform Summit to discuss her journey to getting properly diagnosed.
Sasha, who stars in Freeform’s Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists, had symptoms ranging from weight gain to irregular periods. She went to 17 different gynecologists before someone recommended that she visit an endocrinologist.
An endocrinologist. A doctor that specializes in glands and the hormones they produce.
She did. This endocrinologist suggested Sasha get a blood test to determine if she had Polycystic ovary syndrome. It was the first time in 5 years that Sasha was on her way to a proper diagnosis.
PCOS is a disease that affects almost 5 million women. Once Sasha Pieterse was properly diagnosed she was ready to share her story to help others get informed. If you think you’re experiencing symptoms learn more here.
