We Tried Megababe’s Suite of Body-Care Products – and They Actually Work

Welcome to Skimm Tested, where we put products to the test and then give them a report card. (Check out all of our tried-and-tested faves here.)

The assignment...

To test some of Megababe’s latest and bestselling body-care products to see if they actually improve the skin under our arms, along the dreaded bikini line, and between our thighs.

What we tested…

My coworker Alex and I tested the following for about a month:

  • Thigh Rescue: A hydrating anti-chafing stick for your thighs.

  • The Glow Deo: A daily deodorant with brightening benefits.

  • Night Rescue: A soothing stick meant to even out texture and help with discoloration between your thighs.

  • Le Tush Butt Mask: An exfoliating all-over body (and face) mask.

  • Après Shave: A roller-ball treatment for razor bumps and ingrown hairs.

Thigh Rescue Anti-Friction Stick ($14)

Megababe Thigh Rescue

Straight A’s in…

  • Lasting power. Even though I knew Thigh Rescue is a bestseller (and an Allure Best of Beauty winner), I was still skeptical. But it actually works. I put this on my thighs in the morning and it lasted through all of my walks and errands (so about five hours straight). It even stayed put in the heat.

  • Ingredients. Because aloe is a main ingredient, this product is ultra-soothing. I also love that it’s made of vitamin E because that’s a hydrating ingredient my skin responds well to. My friend who used this product noted that even when her thighs were chafed and inflamed, applying this product not only helped to prevent further chafing, but also felt calming on skin that was irritated.

  • Ease of use. It’s as simple as swiping it on in the area where you need it. PS: The brand’s founder, Katie Sturino, also uses this as a leg moisturizer in a pinch.

Room for growth…

  • Discreetness. If you’re out and need to apply this, the packaging isn’t the most subtle.

The Glow Deo Daily Deodorant ($14)

Megababe Glow Deo

Straight A’s in…

  • Innovation. This aluminum-free deodorant has niacinamide, black currant, and peony extract to help with underarm discoloration. I love that this can be worn daily, and works to both brighten and fight odor. My armpits did look visibly brighter after about a month of use, which I was majorly impressed by.

  • Scent. The scent of this deodorant was so strong that it felt like I was wearing perfume. It wasn’t too harsh, but it was strong enough to where I could actually smell it on myself. This one has notes of lavender, but Megbabe has tons of other options. I’ve gone through countless tubes of the brand’s cult-favorite product Rosy Pits.

  • Durability. Alex, my coworker who tested this deodorant, reported that there wasn’t any melting, dripping, or crumbling of this product, which is sometimes a problem with other natural deodorants.

Room for growth…

  • Scent. While I absolutely loved how the fragrance smelled after the first application, as my day went on (and with it being peak summer season), the fragrance didn’t last. It actually mixed with my own B.O. in a way that didn’t smell great. I’ll probably be going back to using Rosy Pits or The Cream Deo, since those two have more subtle fragrances that work with my body’s natural chemistry. Alex flagged that in terms of general sweatiness, it got the job done and I completely agree.

Night Rescue Overnight Brightening Stick ($16)

Megababe Night Rescue

Straight A’s in…

  • Innovation. Again, this is another product I haven’t seen on the market before (and I’m a commerce editor, so I’ve seen a lot). I love the idea of a product that is meant to brighten, soothe, and repair the skin on your inner thighs — especially if you have discoloration or irritation from previous chafing. All you have to do is apply it at night before bed. I don’t deal with discoloration in the thigh area area, but I do have sensitive, textured skin and noticed that it did feel smoother and softer after six weeks of use.

  • Invisibility. This product goes on clear, isn’t too sticky or heavy, and is generally mess-free when you wear it. I’m sometimes finicky about what lotions I put on before bed because there’s no worse feeling than getting under sheets covered in product. I had zero issues with that when using Night Rescue.

Room for growth…

  • General usage. I already have a skincare and body-care routine that I repeat nightly, so I found that even within the six weeks of me testing this product, I had to remind myself to use it. It just felt like an extra step. That said, if you struggle with the skin around your thighs, you’ll have to be diligent about applying this every night. To see results, you’ll need to commit.

Le Tush Clarifying Butt Mask ($22)

Megababe Le Tush Butt Mask

Straight A’s in…

  • Exfoliation. I struggle with keratosis pilaris and strawberry legs, so this mask was clarifying and soothing on my legs. I also loved that there’s a blend of glycolic, malic, and azelaic acids, along with exfoliating beads for physical and chemical exfoliation.

  • Experience. This mask smells so good. It has notes of peppermint and eucalyptus, which felt cooling on my skin. There was something nice about being able to do an easy body treatment (that also feels luxurious) at home. You only have to leave this mask on for up to three minutes, so it felt like a quick self-care break while in the shower.

  • Versatility. I love how you can use Megababe’s products in different ways and that they’re safe enough to use on various parts of the body (this mask can also be used on your face). It feels like you’re getting more bang for your buck.

Room for growth…

  • Mess. It is a mask, so some sort of mess is expected. When it’s rinsed off, it did cling to some parts of my shower/bath.

Après Shave ($14)

Megababe Apres Shave

Straight A’s in…

  • Ingredients. Thanks to the BHA and apple fruit extract, I noticed that any post-shave irritation went away after a few hours with a simple swipe. Plus, it’s fragrance-free. Since razor burn and bumps are something I deal with, I found myself reaching for this proactively.

  • Roll-on application. This product is easy to apply and mess-free, which made me want to reach for it even more.

  • Versatility. I used this on my bikini line and under my arms, but you can also use it on your face and butt.

Room for growth…

  • Stinging. When I apply this product right after I shave or even a day or two later, my skin stings a little. It’s not to the point where it’s burning or causing irritation, but if you have sensitive skin, you might want to do a quick patch test.

And now, more about the brand…

Plays well with…

  • Anyone new to skincare products who doesn’t know where to start. Megababe has a range of products for your face, body, and more.

  • Those looking for an affordable alternative to more expensive beauty treatments.

Gets extra credit for…

  • Pricing. For body-care meant to help targeted issues, Megababe is affordable and accessible. The prices don’t exceed $40.

  • Packaging. All the products are sleek, compact, and easy to throw in your bag. Not to mention, the instructions are printed on each product and easy to understand. Megababe even encourages you to patch test before you officially add products to your routine.

  • Travel sizes. Deodorants, Thigh Rescue, and the brand’s Body Dust all come in handy mini sizes, which are great for traveling.

How we did our homework…

  • One HQ’r, Alex, and I added all products mentioned into our routines for about a month. We wore the deodorant and thigh-chafing stick on some of the hottest days of the summer to test if they actually worked — and we incorporated the other body-care, from the butt mask to the brightening products, into our nightly routines. I also have friends that used Megababe and they shared their thoughts, which I noted in this review. On top of testing these products, I’ve been wearing Megababe deodorants for about three years and have gone through at least six tubes of Rosy Pits deodorant already.

  • All products are free of talc, aluminum, parabens, phthalates, and sulfates.

  • The brand is vegan, free of animal-derived ingredients, and they never test on animals.

  • Megababe is available at, Ulta, Target, and Amazon.
