You want your kid(s) to get more sleep because it’s important for their health and happiness, sure. But you probably also want — no, need — them to get more sleep because that means that you can get more sleep. We can’t magically give you back every minute of slumber you’ve lost since that beautiful ball of bedtime excuses came into your life, but we can offer these suggestions for products that should help babies, toddlers, older kids, and, yes, their parents, get a little more rest.

A sound machine you’ll use for years…
From the newborn days, when you want to crank up that white noise, to the years when your kids sleep better with a night-light — and beyond — this thing will totally come in handy. You can plug it into the wall or go wireless (up to eight hours), control its lights and sounds from your phone, and even use it as an audio monitor in a pinch. ($89.99, Hatch)

A baby monitor that makes it easy…
Want to know just about everything about your baby’s sleep? Enter the Nanit. Mount it to the wall or set it up with a floor stand, let it do its thing, and you’ll get a full report on wake-ups and sleep stats every morning. Plus, no need to look at a separate monitor screen all night — the video comes right through to your phone via the app. ($299, Nanit)

Soft crib sheets that aren’t crazy expensive…
You don’t want to pay $50+ for a crib sheet that’s going to get peed and puked on constantly? Yeah, we get it. These cotton sheets are soft, cute, and priced so that you can stock up and do (a little) less laundry. ($17.08+, Amazon)

The “smart sleeper” everyone’s talking about…
We’ll get this out of the way: You do not need the Snoo. You and your baby can be happy and healthy without a super-fancy bassinet. However, especially with a rental option now available, this sleeper is worth considering. It’ll keep your babe safely swaddled on their back all night, and rock them automatically when their sleep is disturbed. Your parents may roll their eyes…but they’re just jealous they didn’t have one. ($159/month rental, Happiest Baby)

A crib that does it all…
A one-stop shop for your baby’s first few years of sleeping: mini crib, crib, and toddler bed. Optional wheels make it easy to move around and rock as needed…plus, it’s incredibly good-looking. ($749, Nestig)

And one for the road…
If the idea of traveling with your baby or toddler makes you shiver, make sure you have a setup that gives you confidence. This travel crib is super easy to set up, and sturdy enough to work for several years (there’s no weight limit, but eventually your kid will be able to escape). Grab a fitted sheet for it, too. ($268.36+, Amazon)

The best PJs in the game…
Buy them for your big kids, buy them for your babies, buy them for your friends’ big kids and babies, buy them for yourself — just buy them. These cotton pajamas are cozy and cute, with all kinds of bright colors and prints to choose from. Don’t get sticker shock from the list price — they’re nearly always on some kind of sale. ($46, Hanna Andersson)

Instant blackout shades that you can travel with…
These aren’t a permanent solution for your home, nor will they be winning any design awards. But they’re a lifesaver for visits to grandma’s, hotel stays, trips with wild time changes — basically any unusual situations in which you need to enforce a bedtime. Just cut them to the size you need and stick them to the top of any window…that’s it. Sweet dreams. ($26.30/6 pack, Amazon)

Some new material for storytime…
You do that bedtime routine every night…gotta keep it fresh. With board book and picture book options for kids 0-6, this subscription will give you new stories to enjoy as a family. Bonus: You can kill at least 20 minutes on a rainy day unboxing your new reads. ($21.45+/box, Cratejoy)

A nightly dose of mindfulness…
Screens aren’t always the enemy. For older kids (13+) who may have trouble settling down at night, an app like Headspace can help with meditation to reduce stress and catch those Zzz’s. (Free, Headspace)
